Objectives
The aims and objectives of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (the IAM) are very simple:-
- To improve the standards of driving (and riding) on the roads
- The improvement of road safety or Greater road safety or The promotion of road safety
- The administration of a nationally recognised advanced test
Glasgow North Group are one of 200+ voluntary charitable organisations working nationwide to promote these objectives.
The IAM's Advanced Test is recognised and accredited by the Government's Driving Standards Agency. On successfully passing the Advanced Test, an individual is recommended for membership of the IAM.
Our volunteers coach those interested in obtaining this recognition to be test ready.
The overall conduct of the IAM's Advanced Tests is the responsibility of its Chief Examiner. All IAM Advanced Test Examiners hold the highest Police Riding/Driving Qualifications and the majority of them are serving Police Officers that have years of experience in working within the Traffic Division.
